Craigslist is a centralized network of online communities; it features free classified ads and forums on various topics. The number of for-sale listings has increased substantially since last July. A teenager in Georgia who said her mother lost her job posted this plea, “Please buy anything you can to help out.”

Times are tough. I’ve got plenty of non-essential items that I would sell if I had to (CDs, DVDs and books). I would NEVER sell my Grandmother’s jewelry.
